About Me

Debbie Bretag is a Fine Art Photographer who lives in the Chicago area. She began her passion for photography at an early age when she would watch her mother take family photos with her Kodak Viewfinder Camera. How a photo came out of that little box and became a photograph fascinated her and spurred a desire to learn how to make that spark of magic herself.

In her early years of learning, Debbie attended multiple community photography workshops focusing primarily on landscape photography. She captured landscapes most often while backpacking throughout the country. More recently her passion has been fueled while attending formal photography classes through the Richard Stromberg Chicago Photography Classes. Debbie has found a niche that embraces her love of the outdoors while bringing new life to both organic and inorganic finds. Her goal is to discover ways to reveal objects from a different emotional perspective that triggers a similar spark with the viewer. You will find that her art focuses on rust, found objects, and bringing back to life a past that has been long forgotten.
